Barbara Morgan - Executive Producer

Barbara Morgan co-founded the Austin Film Festival in 1993 and has served as sole Executive Director since 1999.  Morgan produced the film Natural Selection, co-produced the documentary Antones: Home of the Blues, the documentary, Portrait of Wally, and the narrative feature film, Spring Eddy.  Additionally, Morgan serves as Executive Producer on the On Story Television and Radio programs and has produced four feature films, and sits on the boards of Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center, the International Film Festival Summit and the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University, among others.


Sonia MCCarter - EXECUTIVE Producer

Sonia McCarter first joined the Austin Film Festival team in 2011 interning under the Executive Director. She earned a B.A. in Electronic Media from Texas State University. During her time at Texas State, Sonia served as Assistant News Director of the college radio station KTSW 89.9, winning several awards for radio documentaries she wrote, produced, and edited. Sonia returned to AFF in 2012 to manage several different projects including the On Story Project. Sonia currently serves as Executive Producer for the On Story television, radio, and podcast series. Sonia also oversees all of the AFF archives and is currently working to transfer and store over 25 years of material. 


Maya Perez - Producer

Maya Perez is a screenwriter and fiction writer. She is co-editor of On Story: Screenwriters and Their Craft and On Story: Screenwriters and Filmmakers on Their Iconic Films. Perez is a former Michener Fellow, Sundance Screenwriters Intensive Fellow, and New York Stage & Film Emerging Filmmaker. She holds a BA from Vassar College and an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. Her stories have appeared in The Masters Review and Electric Literature. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, artist Johnny Walker, and their daughter.



Jamal Knox is an Austin-based Audio Engineer and Digital Marketing specialist. He has been working in the local music scene since 2010, playing for local and non-local acts and providing live sound and post-production services for bands and artists. As an audio engineer he has worked with companies such as Freeman, Nomad Sound, SXSW, Dell, Rooster Teeth and many others. He joined the On Story® team in 2012 and has been an Editor ever since. Jamal is a lover of animals, storytelling, and parts unknown and is a skilled multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer. In his free time he participates in events for various arts organizations and travels.


Nancy Lee Foley- Radio Relations

Nancy Lee Foley will attend her 12th Austin Film Festival Conference in 2017. She has worked in the Film Department as the first Filmmaker Liaison Coordinator and the Screenplay Department as the Pitch Competition Coordinator. A screenwriter, Nan has completed six original features and one adapted feature. She earned a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
